Udre Udre ate around 999 humans: he holds the Guinness World Records as "most prolific cannibal"

During the 19th century, Udre Udre reportedly Ate between 872 and 999 individuals. He holds the Guinness World Records as "most prolific cannibal" — throughout the first nineteenth century, though differing accounts provide totally different totals of what number of individuals he cannibalized. Most say his murder count is just around 99.


Udre Udre wasn't the sole headman who Ate humans – At that time it was a really common practice to follow. There have been other Fijian chiefs who Ate their enemies. The distinction is that Udre Udre ate the foremost quantity of individuals.



Locals believed that had he eaten up his 1,000th human, he would have been immortal. The chief had kept a stone to record each body that he had consumed, and these were placed along with his tomb in Rakiraki, northern Viti Levu, Fiji. His descendants still sleep in the Raki region. whereas natives of the anthropophagite Isles were noted for his or her voracious craving for human flesh


According to Udre Udre’s son, the chiefs of Rakiraki would go to the battlefield along with Udre Udre and they would each give him every body part of their victims, especially the head. What he couldn’t eat one sitting he would keep preserved in an exceeding box so he always had something to eat.
