286 runs in one ball: a historical match between Western Australia and Victoria

Every cricket player or fan can only fantasize about scoring 286 runs in one ball but accept it or not it has already happened in1894. Western Australia was playing against Victoria when a Victorian batsman hit the ball and the ball landed on a three-pronged branch of a tree which was inside the field, Therefore, The opposite team appealed for loss of the ball because it was stuck on a tree. But, the umpire completely discarded their appeal cause it was neither lost, nor out of the field. Everybody could see the exact location of the ball.




Playing batsman immediately sense an opportunity, he didn’t stop running. He surely was taking advantage of the situation. On the other side, the desperation of catching that ball was getting more intense as batsmen score. One fielder came up with the idea of cutting a whole tree, however, it didn’t work. Another member came up with the gunpoint idea; he started shooting the ball and missed it. By the time he shoot-down the ball Victorian already took the lead by 286 runs.
