George Stinney: youngest person to be executed by electric chair just for being black

Updated: Mar 18, 2021

Sometimes, I just wonder how far the devil of racism can go. perhaps it has no boundaries. George Stinney Jr. was born on 21 Oct 1929 and executed on 16 June 1944 at the age of 14. He was the youngest person in the world to be executed. He was accused of killing 2 white girls that ultimately turn out to be wrong after his death and if you thinking that this the worst part of the story-no..! The most devastating part of the story is that at the age of 14 he was executed by an electric chair.

At that time all the jurors were white. Even before the execution he was threatened and tortured. He was kept out of the city, wasn't allowed to see his parents. He was heard alone without the presence of his parents or lawyer.

He was electrocuted with 5,380 volts. 70 years after his death his innocence was proven by a judge. Many people believe that his execution was the outcome of racism. he paid his debt of being black.
