Castel del Monte, Santa Maria del Monte, Svevia II at the summit of the hill on the West Murges plateau in Apulia, Andria. Built by Federico, it is a 13th-century castle built by the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire and the king of Sicily.

The irregular octagon is a symbolic geometric form on which the plant and its elements of the complex are based: the square symbolizing the infinity of the sky is the middle number between the earth symbol and the circle.

According to some, it may consist of the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem, which Frederick saw during the Sixth Crusade, or the Palatine Chapel of Aachen.

The entire construction is full of powerful astrological symbols and will study its position so that the shadows cast by the walls on the days of the solstice and equinox have a specific direction. At the noon of the Autumn Equinox, for example, the shadows of the walls reach the length of the inner court perfectly, and after a month it covers the entire length of the rooms. Twice a year, April 8 and October 8, as well as window sunlight enters the southeast wall and illuminates part of the wall as it passes through the window facing the inner courtyard. The bass-relief was carved.

Repetition number eight in various elements of this building: the octagonal shape of the construction, the inner courtyard, and the eight towers at the top, the inner tub with eight inner rooms, which should have been octagonal, eight four-petal flowers Left frame in the entrance portal, eight more in the lower frame, eight leaves in the capitals of the columns in the rooms, rear eight leaves in the key, eight ivy leaves in the first-floor hall, eight sunflowers leaf in the key of another hall, eight leaves and eight leaves in the fifth hall, eight leaves in the key of the eighth hall, eight fig leaves in the key of the eight halls above.
